Large French four-glass style mantel clock in an ormolu case with blue porcelain jewelled panels. Circa 1870.

A stunning striking mantel or table clock.

The eight day duration circular 'Movement de Paris', with an internal Brocot, Dead-beat escapement and rack striking the hours and halfs on a large bell. Also having Brocot suspension regulation and the backplate bearing the maker's mark "Vincenti & Cie" (company), numbered "786" and having a medal mark for "Medaille D'Argent 1855.

In a fully gilded ormolu case of four glass style with elaborated corners and top. Having a front door with thick bevelled glass, a blank plate rear door. The side panels being of light blue porcelain with hand-painted subjects depicting swallows on the wing and floral bouquets and swags, with white inner and jewelled gilt borders. The front panel having an elaborate dial section with light blue background and the centre, Roman numeral cartouches and themed painted lower section being in white. The blue areas bear gilt floral designs and borders which are jewelled with garnets and white oval enamels. The centre depicting a winged putto transporting a large colourful flower garland and the lower section displaying a well-executed garden scene with a mother and child with musical instruments. Also having gilt metal 'Open moon' matching hands.

* This is a good and substantial example of its type, the panels are hand-painted rather than applied transfers and it is in surprisingly good condition - the porcelain panels are undamaged and all of the 'jewels' are present.

All of our stock clocks are personally restored by Mark Taylor. He is extremely particular that they are restored to the highest standard possible irrespective of the time they take. This work is carried out within the cost of the purchase price and we believe that this service cannot be matched by anyone.
