* John Grant of Fleet Street is considered to have been an eminent maker. He entered the Clockmakers Company in 1781 and died in 1810. The high quality of this clock reflects the fact that it was produced by a fine maker. The rounded movement housing to the case is constructed using many strips of oak that have been angled at the edges and glued together before shaping the outer surface perfectly. Aesthetically, this is an extremely pleasing clock.
