French carriage clock with original escapement and striking the hours. Circa 1900.

A modestly priced and original striking French carriage clock.

The eight day duration, two train movement. Having it's original, fully jewelled, ratchet-toothed, side lever, platform escapement. Sounding the hours and halfs on a gong.

Behind a matt gilded, masked dial with off-white enamel chapter ring with black Art Nouveau Arabic numerals, minute and hour markings. Also having blued steel Fluer-de-Lys hands.

Contained in a 'Corniche' style case with bracketed, back-swinging handle and bevelled glass panels, the top panel being a large oval. The case retains most of its original satin gilding.

* It is unusual for a carriage clock of this type to have retained its original gilding - it has a pleasing, worn and aged look to it.

Dimensions:               5 1/4" high (excluding handle) x 3 3/4" wide x 3 3/4" deep.

Condition:                   Movement and escapement excellent (awaiting overhaul), case good but worn gilding.
