* Robert Best is listed as free of the Clockmakers' Company in 1783 and was working throughout the first quarter of the 19th century. In 1790 he was at 4 White Lion Court. He is known for making many examples of balloon clocks of very similar design, all of high quality.

** I have left the condition of this case as 'aged and worn' because it is so pleasing. Whilst the movement will be fully restored and guaranteed by me, I have decided to leave the case as optional for the buyer. This will of course incur further charges that I am happy to discuss. The price given includes a complete movement overhaul. Please note, I have resilvered the dial and am happy to report that it has transformed the appearance of this great clock (see the first two pictures).
