English Fusee 5-glass Library clock in a small, light oak case. Circa 1850.

A substantially made and small Victorian English clock.

The good quality, four screwed pillar, chain fusee movement with Anchor Recoil escapement. Also, pendulum holdfast for safe transportation, an underslung mainspring barrel mounted within front and back 'double axe head' plate extensions and unusually, four movement-to-case mounting brackets.

Having a 4 1/2" square, silvered brass dial with black Roman numerals and minute ring and matching 'Maltese cross' steel hands.

The nicely proportioned honey oak, '5 glass' case has glazed and locking doors the front of which has a silvered sight frame for the dial. The top and side glass panels are substantially thick and bevelled. The typically fashioned case has a top Cavetto mounding and a larger scrolled moulding above the plinth and sits on four short block feet.

Condition:                                       Very original with colour, patina and slight damage expectant of age.
