Longcase clock domestic regulator. Mahogany case. Circa 1850.

A handsome Victorian Regulator.

The eight day duration, weight driven movement with Graham Dead-beat escapement, maintaining power, knopped pillars and shouldered plates. The pendulum having an oval section wooden rod and an extremely heavy and large, brass-faced, lenticular lead bob. Also having a crossed-out pulley, brass cased weight, original winding crank and graduated rating nut with indicator.

Behind a well executed, 13" diameter, silvered brass, circular dial with large Arabic outer minute numerals and ring, top subsidiary seconds dial with Arabic '10's' and a lower subsidiary dial with Roman hour numerals. Signed across the centre "John Pengelly, Barnstable" in script and "REGULATOR" in bold Roman  below the hour dial.

Contained in a handsome, 'Flame' mahogany case of good colour. The flat hood having a scrolled and carved pediment and chamfered front edges, these are repeated on the trunk either side of the rectangular, glazed door. The base having a single sheet flame front and stood upon a moulded straight plinth.
