English fusee dial clock with a wooden dial for sale. Front plate numbered 4984, circa 1820.

A good, early fusee wall clock.

The eight day duration, gut fusee movement with long Anchor Recoil escapement, knopped pillars, shouldered plates and also a heavy pendulum bob. The frontplate is stamped with the number 4984.

Behind a twelve inch diameter, one piece wooden dial with original, crazed, white background paint and Spade-and-cross matching brass hands. Also having a hinged, 'Sheraton' style heavily cast polished brass concave section locking bezel with flat glass.

Contained in a dark mahogany case with narrow surround, two side doors and curved bottom with locking cockbeaded door. The surround being an extension of the dial in one piece.

* This totally original clock is stunning. The dial is in exceptional and original condition and being wooden, gives a unique sound to the tick that is not possible with a metal dialed clock - the sound is wooden rather than metallic! Though not signed, this clock is extremely collectable and exudes character.
