Victorian English fusee dial clock with a striking movement. Retailed by H.G. Hall of Wimborne. Circa 1890.
A very original and pretty, striking wall clock in a lovely mahogany case.
Stock No: 14349
The massive double chain fusee, five pillar movement with Anchor Recoil escapement and rack striking the hours on a top mounted, first quality, tuned, 'bell-metal' bell.
Fixed to a 11 1/2" flat painted iron dial with minute track, Roman numerals and the retailer's name of "H.G. HALL WIMBORNE". Also having blackened steel 'spade' hands and behind a locking, cast brass bezel with integral silvered sight ring and flat ground-in glass.
The pale mahogany case is of good colour and pleasing patination with a rounded top and bottom, the latter having a locking, cockbeaded door. The two side doors with metal sound frets unusually also have locks, this feature is extremely rare.
