A fine London mahogany, silvered dial longcase clock by Archibald Collier, Bond St. Circa 1785.

An attractive looking clock that has been well maintained and is in superb condition.

Stock No:   14317

The eight day duration, five pillar movement with Anchor Recoil escapement and star-wheel & rack striking that sounds the hours on a bell. Also having a strike/silent facility. The movement is driven by matching, brass cased weights.

Behind a well-executed twelve inch wide, silvered brass, break-arch dial with Roman hour numerals, divided minute ring, outer Arabic fives, a conforming subsidiary seconds dial, Strike/Silent indicator dial in the arch and the finest quality, ornately engraved maker's name "Arch.(ibal)d Collier (of) Bond Street, London" within the lower dial centre. The hands are shaped, pierced and of blued steel.

Contained in a flame mahogany case of good colour and patination that is clean-lined throughout. Having an elaborated break-arch hood that has a good top moulding, single central silvered brass ball finial upon a plinth, canted front corners with lamb's ear ends, locking door and it sits well over the Cavetto throat to the trunk that has a lower moulding above the full-length break-arch door with excellent edge moulding and being of choice flame timber. The front corners have conforming cantings and endings with blocked bottoms and the panelled base sits below another large Cavetto moulding and has a well-proportioned double, London plinth.

* This really is a superb looking clock of good proportions and in the correct lighting it 'glows'. The silver tassel that we have fitted to the trunk lock key compliments the dial perfectly and if you want a good clock that displays beauty and frankly, 'perfection' then this is the one. It is in fine condition and has been well-maintained hence the reduced price option. Every clock that I have seen by this maker is superior in quality and appearance. Surprisingly, little is known of this maker other than he is thought to have been producing clocks from the late 1700's until about 1825.
