040 Small fusee English dial wall clock. In an unusual 'Ropetwist carved surround mahogany drum case. C. 1865.
A heavy, very attractive and unusually small high quality wall clock.
The high quality eight day duration, chain fusee movement with Anchor Recoil escapement.
Behind a 10" diameter painted iron dial with black Roman numerals, outer minute ring and bearing the maker's signature: "W. J. WALKER (of) WOOLWICH" above and below the centre. Also having blued steel spade hands and a cast brass polished locking bezel with a silvered sight ring and flat glass.
Contained in a small and well executed, laminated mahogany drum case with finely carved rope-twist surround to the bezel, above centre-right and bottom cockbeaded locking doors.
Dimensions: 12 1/2" across x 5 1/2" deep.
Condition: Excellent.
