Small, fusee, English dial clock with a 10 inch bowed dial. Circa 1835.

A very well-proportioned English 'Drop-dial' wall clock in lovely condition.

Stock No:   14522

The 8 day duration, gut fusee movement with Anchor Recoil escapement, knopped pillars and shouldered plates.

Behind a 10" diameter, bowed, painted iron dial with it's original cream white background, outer divided minute track with diamond quarters, inner, Roman hour numerals and the upper centre bearing the maker's signature of "WICKES Clements Lane & Lombard Street" and below the winding hole: "LONDON". The matching blued steel hands are 'open moon' style. Behind a cast brass, locking, hinged bezel with a high bowed glass.

Contained in a mahogany 'drop' case with a one-piece, narrow dial surround and a well-figured short trunk the front of which has brass inlay depicting a simple floral scroll. The rounded bottom has a conforming locking and cockbeaded door and the right side also has a hinged access door.

* This really is not just a good quality and most original clock. Aesthetically, it is a small, very, very attractive clock and - it will outlast us all -  as it has outlasted its original owners, it would a be a great heirloom and will always suit even the most modern home.

Dimensions:                         15" high x 12" wide x 6" deep at the glass apex.

Circa:                                    1835. The maker however is recorded as being in The Clockmaker's Company
                                              in 1810.

Condition:                              The movement is clean, well maintained and though working well, awaiting my
overhaul. The dial is excellent with very slight and acceptable blistering to the
base paint. The bezel and glass are also excellent and the lock is working. The
case is well-figured and has a good patina, there is only age-related slight
damage here and there but not enough to warrant correction.  All in all, this is
a handsome and charming little clock that is almost 200 years old and basically,
                                              absolutely original.
